Sunday, March 15, 2026 - a2zcore.com

The Byron Bay Bluesfest music festival has been cancelled after its organiser entered liquidation, leaving more than $23 million owed to ticket holders. Liquidators warn refunds are unlikely as fans and artists react to the sudden shutdown.

The Byron Bay Bluesfest music festival has been cancelled after its organiser, Bluesfest Enterprises Pty Ltd, entered liquidation owing more than $23 million to ticket holders. Liquidator Jason Bettles of Worrells confirmed the company’s winding-up notice had been lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, warning refunds are unlikely as ticket holders are classified as unsecured creditors. Many fans had paid between $700 and $2,000 for tickets, with some spending up to $15,000. Artists including Byron Bay metal band Parkway Drive expressed disappointment at the festival’s collapse, while the planned 2026 lineup-featuring acts such as Split Enz, Erykah Badu and The Teskey Brothers-has largely remained silent as legal and financial assessments continue.
