Description
The Emilia Plater Independent Women's Battalion was a unit of the Soviet First Polish Army during the Second World War. It was created in 1943 with the intention of serving as a front-line fighting unit, but it was mostly used for police and sentry work. It existed until May 1945, when the war came to a close, at which point it had 500 members.
